The LOUIS XIII Classic decanter has remained the ultimate expression of our finest eaux-de-vie blend since 1874, containing up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne terroir.
LOUIS XIII cognac 70cl
Up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie, made using grapes grown in Grande Champagne – the premier cru of the Cognac region – are carefully blended over the years to create the cognac inside every LOUIS XIII Classic decanter. Provenance and time are the very essence of LOUIS XIII cognac. Each drop represents a finely tuned craft passed down from one generation of Cellar Master to the next.
The eaux-de-vie are slowly aged in old Limousin tierçons (traditional aged French oak casks). Every sip is a taste of time.
The Classic decanter
No two of these decanters are the same. Hand-crafted by skilled artisans from the finest European crystal houses, each decanter is individually numbered and unique. The distinctive design, featuring a 20-carat gold neck and 10 distinctive spikes on each side, is inspired by a 16th-century flask uncovered from the site of the Battle of Jarnac, France, and later owned by LOUIS XIII founder, Paul-Émile Rémy Martin.
LOUIS XIII cognac (70cl) has a small NFC chip integrated in the cork stopper allowing to seamlessly connect clients to the LOUIS XIII Society, a private club, where members can enjoy exclusive content, experiences and personalized services.
The coffret
The LOUIS XIII Classic decanter is beautifully presented in a signature red display case with contemporary design features while retaining the iconic red colour. The coffret offers a new opening experience that recalls the moment in a gastronomic restaurant when the cloche is lifted to reveal the delights within. The coffret comes complete with an integrated mirror display to showcase the decanter at home, as well as a dedicated book to discover more about LOUIS XIII.
Tasting and serving suggestion
The LOUIS XIII cognac tasting experience is a journey that will transport you through time, allowing you to savour the individual notes of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie.
When serving your cognac, use your LOUIS XIII Spear (otherwise known as a pipette) to extract the amber liquid drop by drop, just as our Cellar Master would. Serve LOUIS XIII cognac at room temperature in the accompanying exclusive LOUIS XIII glasses, specially designed to enhance every nuance of LOUIS XIII cognac.
Allow the cognac to rest in the glass for a few moments as you take in its complex aromas. First from afar, then close to the nose. Place a drop of LOUIS XIII cognac on your lips, allowing it to slowly ignite your palate, then take your time to enjoy, one sip at a time.
LOUIS XIII Tasting notes
LOUIS XIII cognac should be tasted drop by drop. It opens on the palate in a burst of floral, fruit and spice aromas. As you taste, take time to appreciate the evolution of these flavours, which linger on the palate for up to one hour.
You can taste the art of time from the very first drop, its unmistakable woody notes evocative of aged oak casks, and years of artistry leading to an explosion of floral, fruity and spicy notes, including dried roses, honey, myrrh, cigar box, plum, honeysuckle, leather, figs and passion fruit. Savour the unforgettable flavours that will linger for a long time on your palate, sparking deep-rooted memories and marking a unique moment in time.
Food pairing
Food pairing brings a new dimension to the tasting experience. It is important to consider how different flavours will complement the cognac’s intense taste and aromatic profile. We recommend pairing LOUIS XIII cognac with the finest caviar, or shavings of jamón ibérico, a rare delicacy that deserves to be served alongside something equally special.
A serving ritual like no others
Our "Facets of LOUIS XIII" glasses were designed, exclusively for LOUIS XIII by world-renowned French designer Christophe Pillet, whose objective was to expose and enhance the multifaceted characteristics of LOUIS XIII cognac.
