PURVEYOR TO THE ROYAL COURTS
Since the end of the 19th century, LOUIS XIII has officially been awarded Purveyor to some highly prestigious Royal and Imperial Courts, such as the Imperial court of Austria-Hungary (1898), the Royal court of Bayern (1903) and the Royal court of Sweden (1956).
More recently in the 1980's, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales received from Mrs. Martine Heriard Dubreuil herself a decanter of LOUIS XIII at the Guards Polo Club of Windsor Castle.
LOUIS XIII AROUND THE WORLD
As early as 1875, the Rémy Martin Company started to export their very first cases of LOUIS XIII around the world, to Scandinavia and even Australia. By the end of the 1880's, LOUIS XIII was shipped to most Asian countries - such as India, Indonesia, Japan or China, but also to South Africa.
PRESTIGIOUS PLACES
One of LOUIS XIII's very first ambassadors in France was the Ritz Hotel, who placed their first order back in 1935. Two years later, in a renowned club in Chicago, one could buy a glass of LOUIS XIII for fifty dollars or even get to simply smell the cork for one dollar.
The word of mouth then spread rapidly around the world and it took only a few decades for LOUIS XIII to be available in most prestigious and timeless venues. Some remember that back in 1982 the famous Tour d'Argent restaurant in Paris chose LOUIS XIII to celebrate their 400th anniversary.
RENOWNED LUMINARIES
In 1945 in France, General de Gaulle and his staff decided to order LOUIS XIII to celebrate their first Christmas after being liberated from German forces. Other politics will follow. One of them, Mr. Churchill, will even order a few cases of LOUIS XIII to toast his political victory at national elections in 1951.
More recently in 1983, Larry Holmes enjoyed his Heavyweight World Champion title with a decanter of LOUIS XIII. In 1986, it is said that, while he was doing a US Tour and stopping for one night in Chicago, a famous British singer asked his entourage to make sure that LOUIS XIII was listed in every restaurant of the city where he wanted to book a table…
