One Note: Infinite Dimensions

The Symphony of Time is kicked off by "Toast Master". Two LOUIS XIII cognac glasses are clinked together to make a toast, producing a very specific sound – G-sharp note. The Paris-based Israeli pianist Yaron Herman was invited to create One Note Prelude for Symphony of Time in 2019. It begins with a single piano note, which cleverly draws you in. The piano is then joined by the strings playing the same note, but at different octaves and using contrasting rhythms. A violin provides the main melody, while a second violin and a viola add colour and harmony. A cello adds a rhythmic bass line.

The G-sharp notes are interpreted with different individual instruments, which adding texture, structure and harmony to the composition. Then the rhythm is gradually strengthened, bringing rich structure to the melody, which rises to a crescendo. In an instant, all the instruments came to an end, and the "Toast Master" made another toast by the pair of crystal glasses, leaving only the clear and melodious lingering of the G-sharp note.

The LOUIS XIII’s exclusive tierçon sits in the center of the space – it’s a treasure and heritage of LOUIS XIII, which has a history of centuries. The shanks used to built it were selected from the mature oak of Limousin in southwestern France. The tierçons had been using to hold the precious eaux-de-vie of LOUIS XIII.

Time is the precious raw material for LOUIS XIII. Tannins were infused to eaux-de-vie as time flows, thus the aroma accumulates. The inheritance between generations merge the skills of countless craftsmen in the same time and space. Just as classical string music and modern machinery harmoniously co-present the essence of Symphony of Time – One Note Prelude, each drop of LOUIS XIII is the life achievement of generations of foresighted predecessors and the contemporary interpretation based on profound traditions.
