CAN YOU TELL US A STORY, A FAMOUS ANECDOTE ABOUT THIS PLACE THAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?

The Conservatorium Hotel is Amsterdam leading luxury lifestyle palace, evoking glamour and elegance for sophisticated, design-literate travellers. Located in Museum Square, the luxury centre and cultural heart of the city, the Conservatorium is an architectural masterpiece that combines a landmark heritage building with a graceful, contemporary design, offering guests a selection of restaurants, a bar, lounge and the 1,000 sq m Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Facility. A destination hotel with a real sense of place, the Conservatorium is known at home and abroad as 'Amsterdam's Living Room'.

The building was originally designed by the Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel as the Rijkspostspaarbank and sparked the regeneration of the Museum Quarter at the end of the 19th century.

In 1897, the building was purchased for 120,310 florins (54,600 Euro), and was soon transformed into a defining icon of the city's architectural and cultural hub, whose development was further aided by the horse trams that began connecting the centre of Amsterdam with the Van Baerlestraat.

IF THIS PLACE WAS A SONG, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

If the Conservatorium hotel was a song it would be a jazz song. Maybe a song of Diana Krall: feminine but tough and cool. With New York accents and lots of personal style.

HOW DID YOU BECOME SO PASSIONATE ABOUT WINE & SPIRITS?

It all started when I met Executive Chef Schilo van Coevorden. Working next to him allowed me to be in contact with the essence of gastronomy, including wine and spirits. Schilo challenged me to work on the branding of Tunes Bar, Conservatorium's premium bar where the LOUIS XIII RARE CASK bottle is displayed. I took the challenge very seriously and made sure the bar became one of the most popular spots to go in Amsterdam. My colleagues at the bar also fed me all the ins and outs of spirits. I was also given the opportunity to participate in multiple trainings related to wine and spirits.

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER LOUIS XIII?

The first time was at the Conservatorium hotel thanks to brand ambassador Laurens van de Werfhorst. He approached the hotel to sell and promote the LOUIS XIII. After that we got the amazing opportunity to sell and promote the LOUIS XIII RARE CASK in the Benelux. We also did the press presentation in the hotel, which I completely organized and coordinate.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ABOUT LOUIS XIII TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER TASTED IT?

First of all I would say that they need to try it three times one after the other in order to get all the flavors and sensations in their mouth, nose and throat. They need to close their eyes and think about an autumn day in a humid forest where the sun rays are going through the trees.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST DREAM IN LIFE?

My biggest dream in life is to never get bored of life, to wake up every morning with a motivation to follow, whether it is my family, my job, my hobbies or the people around me. It must be a nightmare to no longer have dreams.
